Steve Rensner, Principal
|
Mr. Rensner currently serves as Calvary’s principal. Chicago was his place of birth. His last name is a palindrome. Mr. Rensner’s undergraduate degree in Elementary Education was conferred at Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, Illinois. He earned a Master’s degree in Administration from Butler University. This begins his 28th year in education. Mr. Rensner is married to Cheryl. They are blessed with two daughters, Jen (son-in-law Sean Frick) and Michelle (son-in-law Micah Borcherding), and two granddaughters.

Pam Schueler, Administrative Assistant
|
Mrs. Schueler is the school administrative assistant. Pam attended Peninsula College and Hawaii Pacific University. She has been married to her husband, Mike for 18 years. Pam and Mike have two children, Marley and Reed. She is the first person you will see when entering the building. Mrs. Schueler is very helpful and can answer many questions or direct you to where you need to be. She is in the office Monday through Friday and can be reached at 317-783-2305 Ext. 222.

Jeff Huntington, 8th Grade
|
Mr. Huntington is an eighth-grade homeroom teacher and chair of the social studies department, teaching social studies for grades 6-8. He also teaches computer classes for those grades. Jeff is a product of Lutheran schools in Indianapolis, graduating from Emmaus and then Lutheran High School. He graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 1997 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Computer Science. Jeff is a member of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and received the Olin W. Davis Award for Exemplary Teaching of Economics in 2006 from the Indiana Council for Economic Education. He is married to Leslie and has a son, Kyle.

Stacey Faubion, Science 6-8, Computer K-5

Mrs. Faubion is the middle-school science teacher, and teachers computer class for kindergarten-5th grade. She has 9 years of teaching experience, a BA in biology from Indiana Univiersity, and a teaching license from IUPUI. Mrs. Faubion loves teaching and sparking kids enthusiasm for learning. “Children only learn from those they love,” is the basis of her teaching philosophy. She also believes it is important to create lesson plans that present scientific concepts in a variety of formats so that all learners are reached and involved. Mrs. Faubion is married to Jeff Faubion and together they have three sons: J.C., Jacob, and Joseph.

Dave Honebrink, 8th Grade
|
After student teaching in 2007 at Calvary, Mr. Honebrink accepted a call to continue his Ministry at Calvary as the 6-8th grade math teacher. David grew up on a dairy farm in Mayer, MN where he received a Lutheran elementary and high school education. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Lutheran Secondary Education from Concordia University of Wisconsin. While coaching sports is a large part of his time, he also enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Paula, and her son Garrett. They will be getting married in March of 2010. David’s mission statement and philosophy on teaching is “Growing in Christ as we grow with each other.”

Carol Haak, 7th Grade
|
Miss Haak has a seventh grade homeroom class and is currently a Language Arts teacher for grades 6-8. Carol is also the Librarian for Calvary Lutheran School. She graduated from Concordia University in Nebraska with a Bachelors Degree in Education. Carol has taken additional classes and workshops to stay current with teaching methods. She has memberships in LEA (Lutheran Elementary Teachers’ Association) and Indiana Library Federation. Carol has been teaching for more than 35 years and has taught a wide range of grade levels including grades 2-8.

Dawn Schultz, 6th Grade

Mrs. Schultz is the sixth grade teacher and athletic director here at Calvary Lutheran School. Dawn is a 1990 graduate from Concordia University, River Forest, IL with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in Reading and Physical Education. Dawn is in her 17th year of ministry. She was a Youth Director for 7 years in Grafton, WI and is currently in her 10th year of teaching. She is married to Tom Schultz, and they have one son, Mark, in high school.

Kristen Fending, Spanish
|
Señora Kristen Fending is Calvary Lutheran's seventh and eighth grade Spanish teacher. She graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Daemen College in upstate New York. She has taught Spanish to students from ages Preschool through eighth grade in private schools for six years. She also teaches at Greenwood Christian School on other days. Kristen lives with her husband, daughter, son, and pets in Franklin and attends Greenwood Christian Church. She feels very excited and blessed to be at Calvary!

Dustin Smith, 5th Grade

Mr. Smith is the fifth grade teacher at Calvary Lutheran School. He was born and raised in Rockford, IL. Dustin graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and minors in Language Arts and Theatre. He has taught preschool and has been a substitute teacher in the public schools. Mr. Smith is also in charge of the school's extended care program. Dustin is married to Alicia.

Kimberly Moore, 4th Grade

Mrs. Moore is the 4th grade teacher at Calvary Lutheran School. Kimberly graduated from Concordia Seward with a degree in Elementary Education, a concentration in Early Childhood, and a minor in Speech and Drama. She has been teaching for 25 years with all but 3 of those years in kindergarten. Kimberly has served in California, Nevada, and Indiana. Kimberly and her husband John have two children, one who attends Calvary and the other at Lutheran High School. Some of her hobbies include gardening, baking, and reading.

Leslie Huntington, 3rd Grade

Mrs. Huntington is the third grade teacher at Calvary Lutheran School. Leslie was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in 1997 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Leslie has served in Michigan, Illinois, Florida, and Indiana. Her husband Jeff is also a teacher here at Calvary.

Susan Richert, 2nd Grade
|
Mrs. Richert is the second grade teacher at Calvary Lutheran School. She was raised on a farm in central Illinois and graduated from Concordia University at River Forest, Illinois with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Her teaching assignments have taken her to Minnesota, Hawaii, and Indiana and total over 25 years in the classroom. Most of her teaching years involved working with students in the primary grades from kindergarten to third grade. She is a certified mentor for the state of Indiana.

Katie Ceder, 1st Grade
|
Ms. Ceder is the first grade teacher at Calvary. She also has experience teaching preschool, kindergarten, and third, fourth and fifth grade math and science. She also served for a year as a director for a preschool and daycare in Plainfield, IN. Raised in Wisconsin, she came to Indiana to attend Hanover College and received a B.A. in Elementary Education. In 2006 she received her Masters degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in early childhood. She is a member of Phi Delta Kappa and LEA.

Cheryl Rensner, Kindergarten

Mrs. Cheryl Rensner serves as the kindergarten teacher at Calvary Lutheran School. Cheryl is a 1983 graduate from Concordia River Forest, Illinois with a degree in Elementary Education. She has been teaching for 21 years with 13 of those years in kindergarten and preschool. Cheryl has taught at four Lutheran Schools throughout Illinois and Indiana. Cheryl and her husband Stephen, have two daughters. Jen and Sean have two daughters: Ella and Lillie. Michelle and Micah were recently married. Some of Cheryl’s hobbies include gardening, cake decorating, and reading.

Ruth Armao, Preschool
|
Mrs. Armao is the preschool teacher at Calvary. She graduated in 1982 from Concordia University located in Seward, Nebraska. She has taught for 25 years in various Lutheran Schools located in California, Nebraska, Indiana, and Illinois. Her teaching experiences include preschoolers through 4th graders with this year being her 16th year in a preschool classroom. She is a member of the Lutheran Education Association. Her husband, Robert is the Campus Pastor and History Teacher at Lutheran High School. Bob and Ruth have 2 grown children. Chelsae attends graduate school at Kent State University in Ohio. Tyler will graduate this December with a Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Mary Jo Mascher, Preschool

Mrs. Mascher serves as the teacher aide in our Preschool. She is a life-long resident of Indianapolis and has been a member of the Calvary Lutheran staff for many years. She and her husband, Gil, have two grown daughters, Lauren and Andrea (and now Andrea's husband, Rob). Lauren and Andrea are Calvary alumni and graduates of the Lutheran High School of Indianapolis. Both are college graduates and employed full-time.

Kirsten Springer, Preschool Plus Aide

Mrs. Springer is a teacher's assistant in the mornings in PreSchool Plus. Kirsten attended Ball State University and earned a degree in special education. Kirsten and her husband Jay have 5 active children: Megan, Abby, Josh, Lydia, and Bekah.

Judy Morrison, Music Director/Art

Mrs. Morrison has been teaching for 18 years. She graduated from Concordia University, River Forest, IL, with a Bachelor in Education and major in art. She has taught in California, Nevada, Illinois, and Indiana. Her experiences include public school teaching as well as teaching in Lutheran schools. She has done private tutoring and taught Young Rembrandt art classes. Her husband of 24 years, Dennie, is a construction supervisor. They have one daughter, Annika, who attends school at Calvary. She currently teaches music to Kindergarten-5th grade and conducts the Junior Choir. She also teachers art for grades 7 & 8. When not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to Christian music, playing her guitar, camping, painting, and reading.

Paul Johnson, Band

Mr. Johnson is the Band Director at Calvary Lutheran School. He has attended Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Concordia University, River Forest, and Evansville University. Paul has a Master of Music Education Degree along with 29 years experience. He is licensed in K-12 music, 9-12 vocal, and 9-12 instrumental. Paul also teaches at Lutheran High School, Indianapolis and is in charge of their wind ensemble, pep band, and jazz band. Paul and his wife Pamela have four daughters.

Mrs. Meiners, Resource
|
Mrs. Meiners is the Resource Teacher at Calvary Lutheran School. She graduated from Indiana State University in Terre Haute with a BS and MS in Elementary Education, with endorsements in Learning Disabilities, Mild Mental Disorders, Reading and Math. Jan has retired from public school teaching with over 37 years of experience. She has been a classroom teacher, special education teacher, reading specialist, Orton-Gillingham tutor and supervisor, and Sunday and VBS teacher at Calvary. Jan’s daughters attended Calvary and Lutheran High School. Jan enjoys children, Bible study, friends, pets and gardening. She is happy to be a part of the Calvary staff.

Carla Heininger, Cafeteria Manager

The Hot Lunch Program here at Calvary has been in operation for 36 years. The Board of Health and the Indiana Department of Education monitor the hot lunch program and menus. They look at a number of different items for each meal such as iron, fat, vitamins, salt, calories and other items, a total of 12 different points. On our most recent inspection we received an excellent rating for the meals served in our program. The Nutritionalist is using our Calvary lunch menus as examples of training to help other schools serve healthy and nutritionally balanced meals. A lot of our main entrees are made from scratch including our rolls and desserts. Please call Mrs. Heininger at 317-783-2305 Ext. 231 if you have any questions.
